Committee function

This committee shall be responsible for the provisions of C.8.06.d of the constitution.  In addition, the committee shall make home visits, telephone calls, and letters to encourage persons to remain active in the life of the congregation.

Work continues on our Church Directory. We are facing two problems:

 I) no one has responded to help with formatting the directory;

2) the directory must be completed in its entirety before sending to Olan Mills.

The membership rolls are being reviewed and ideas molded to encourage inactive members to return-or discover what barriers might be preventing that from happening. The Cottage Meeting Team is working on a program and will extend a hand of fellowship to members who are not attending worship.

One of the teams that emerged from our congregation's Team Planning night September 6, is going to work on developing geographical groups for fellowship and relationship.building within our membership and beyond. Our goal is to have these 'Cottage Groups' ready to meet in January. We will be looking for homes to host small groups that will gather throughout our church community. Watch for more information as our plans grow. If you have had experience with small group ministries in other congregations, your input would be welcomed and valued. Give us a call if you have any ideas to share. The planning team for the Cottage Groups include: Tom Christensen, Jane Fred, Carl & Suzanne Lehto, Cheryl Leider, Carolyn Mann and Joyce Weise.

Membership Committee reports that the picture directory is nearing completion-at least from this end. Pastor Jean has worked many hours formatting pictures for the book; Lynn Cox has labored to have co rect names, addresses & email informarion printed, Norm Fred has used his camera and visited our shut-ins, so that they too, could be included; Cheryl Leider has worked diligently to coordinate and move the project along. We thank each person who has helped make the directory a reality. Soon-we will be able to look at-and appreciate all that work!

The packet with completed information for the church directory was mailed to Olan Mills 11/14. We are trying to connect with all members of our congregation, to show appreciation for them; lest any feel forgotten. We hope to become increasingly friendly, welcoming others into our fellowship.

Church Directories Available

Cheryl Leider reports that the New Church Directories will be able to be picked up before or after worship services. A sufficient number will be available for the 'snow birds'. Call Cheryl at 947-6428 if you have any questions.

Cheryl Leider, Membeship Chair, is pleased to announce that in the months of May and June. we have had more than 40 individuals visit our worship services. It is good to know that our church is visible-that visitors in the area are able to locate us and find the worship schedule so that they are able to attend. Let's all continue to be warm and welcoming as we see new faces; while many are visitors because they are traveling, some are visiting because they are searching for a church home.

The smile, handshake and welcome you extend may make the difference in their decision to return again!

Cheryl also reports that most of the picture directories have been claimed- but a few are still waiting to be picked up. If you

have not taken your picture directory home, please make arrangements to do so promptly. Unclaimed books will soon be made available to others.
