From the President of the Congregation
So many thank you's with so little space! Where do I begin? There are so many of you that have "stepped up to the plate" that I could go on for months on this matter alone.
First, thanks to Vice President, Corey Hughes for filling in during my time away. He did a wonderful job of explaining the role of an Intentional Interim in last months Star. Beyond that, my gratitude goes out to the entire church council for their time in interviewing the candidate that had been presented to us. It didn't work out but God has a plan, He always does!
If you didn't attend any of our Lenten "suppers" and service's, you really missed something. Many thanks go out to Chef Phil Bossardet and the Fellowship Committee for putting on a wonderful meal. Countless smiles and hugs said it all. After our meal we were provided with inspiring, timely messages from our Small Groups. We were listening to God's message through our fellow members in Christ and it was WONDERFUL.
After the Lenten suppers, many volunteers came in to do a complete kitchen clean-up. Wow, it looks like a new kitchen! We have faced some "mechanical challenges" with our kitchen appliances. Thanks to the Luttinen's for coming in, on a very snowy day, to clean out our freezer when it quit working. However, I am pleased to announce that we are back to normal and all is in good working order.
Our Hymn Sing weekend was a tremendous success! It was another time of fellowship and sharing, Special acknowledgment goes out to Billie Thompson who initiated the idea and help formulate it. Diane Blair and Janet Denton coordinated the meal and entertainment. The entire church choir was at every service. This was a real treat for those that attend the 7:00pm and 8:30am services. We don't get to hear them often. The guitar group led us in another rousing hymn sing after our meal. A very heartfelt thanks goes to Kate Holtfreter and Cindy Peterson for helping me with the messages that day. Thanks go out to our congregational members that chose the hymns we sang. Everyone played a part and the favorable remarks were plentiful. "Let's do this again" was heard many times. V.P. Hughes recorded the service and CD's are available for a $2.00 donation. As the old rock and roll song says, WE ARE FAMILY. We are indeed!
My monthly thank you goes to the bulletin and Star assembly teams. These folks come in at a scheduled time to collate the publications. I've helped out upon occasion and can tell you it is a lot of fun. Think about joining in for fun and fellowship.
As this goes to press, I am pleased to announce that we have retained an Interim Pastor. A heartfelt welcome goes out to Pastor Dan Deutsch and his wife Mary Lou. You will read more about this in this publication. Thanks for your prayers!
May His peace be with you always,
Dennis Conant, President
